An Inspiring Hero in My Eyes

时间:2018-11-23

Good morning, everyone. Today I want to introduce to you an inspiring Chinese cultural hero. Have you ever watched the film "Hero"? You may like people in that film, but I dont think theyre true heroes. So who is? Lets get to the point. Lu Xun is the true hero in my mind. He is a great man indeed and I believe you must know him. This famous writer and thinker from Shaoxing Zhejiang, was also an important participant in the New Culture Movement of May 4th and one of the founders of modern Chinese literature. Mao Zedong once commented:" Where Lu Xun goes, where the new culture of China goes. “Dawn Blossoms Plucked at Dusk” is exactly one of my favorite books. It vividly shows his real life at a young age when he experienced a lot, moving from the countryside to the town, from the family to the society, and from China to Japan. Furthermore, in that book, he expressed his critical views towards old forces and outdated culture as well as his nostalgic feelings for his relatives, friends and teachers.

All his life, Lu Xun made great contributions to literary creation, literary criticism, idealistic research, literary history research, translation, collation and research of ancient books, and introduction of fine arts theory and basic science. He was well known in the world of literature, especially in the ideological and cultural fields of Korea and Japan. He was praised as "the writer who occupied the largest territory on the map of east Asian culture in the 20th century".

In a word, he is such a wonderful hero that we all Chinese should be proud of.

Thank you for listening!
