Mulan, My Inspiring Chinese Cultural Hero

时间:2018-11-23

Good morning/afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Today, I will introduce a hero who is a woman in ancient time,  Mulan. Is she a hero? You may have the question -- aren't heroes all men?  Don't worry, this question will get answer after my speech.

Mulan was one of the four heroines in ancient Chinese legends. In the Northern and Southern Dynasties, she was a famous heroine known by all people and her story formed a tragic heroic epic. So, what was her story about? During the Northern Wei Dynasty, the northern nomadic Rouran people continued harassing in the south, so the Northern Wei regime commanded that one man from each family should go to the front line. However,  Mulan's father was too old and sick to joint the battle, and her younger brother was still young to fight against enemy, so Mulan decided to join the army for her father. After dressing up as a man, Mulan began her military life for more than ten years and no one recognized her as a man. As we all know, it's hard for men to fight against enemy in the war. How about Mulan, as a woman? From here, we can see that Mulan, a woman, was really brave and wisdom. Now, I will recite to you a poem in praise of Mulan: Mulan dressed as a man fighting for enemy for several years, thrush with her female companion was in her dream at midnight. Lots of complaints and considerations must be inside her heart there, but she chose to be like Wang Zhaojun serving for state.

As a woman, Hua Mulan was a general for thousands of years, and she bore the responsibility of a man. How great she was! Let's give her the applause!
